"Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hated reproof is brutish. A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD. But a man of wicked devices will he condemn. A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved."

Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Reverend Louis S. Jones was born on April 1, 1947 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  He was baptized at the age of eight at Greater Emmanuel Baptist Church.  Pastor Jones was educated in the New Orleans Public Schools.  He graduated from Joseph S. Clark Senior High School.  He later received his Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, with a concentration in History from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

            Pastor Jones served our country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army from 1967 until 1970.  He was previously employed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Veteranís Administration.  He recently retired as a manager with the United States Postal Service.

            Pastor Jones after being called to the ministry attended the Union Baptist Theological Seminary.  In addition, he attended the international Bible Institute and Seminary in Orlando, Florida where he received a Bachelorís and Masterís degree in Theology.  

             Pastor Jones married Carolyn Price on November 26, 1966.  They are the parents of Channon, Chrishanda, and Duan.  They are also the proud parents of nine grandchildren. 

            Pastor Jones served as pastor of:  Galilee Baptist Church in Lawton, Oklahoma from 1968 until 1969, Mount Carmel Baptist Church from 1979 until 2006, and Greater Emmanuel Baptist Church from 1999 until 2006.

            Pastor Jones was elected the seventh pastor of St. John Institutional Missionary Baptist Church after the sudden passing of the former pastor, Reverend Gene Ellison Powell.  He was installed on Sunday, August 27, 2006.

            Pastor Jones currently serves as the:  President of the Louisiana Freedmen Missionary Baptist General Association, President of the Christian Ministers Fellowship Conference, Vice Moderator of the Ministers of New Orleans, a member of the Board of Trustees of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and the host of the 2008 National Missionary Baptist General Convention.

            Pastor Jones is a dedicated servant of God, a gospel preacher and teacher, and an evangelist.
